Nantucket of the Caribbean

Harbour Island is a 3 mile cay off the northern coast of Eleuthera, and is noted for its friendly people, architecture, and one of th finest beaches in the world. It is sometimes called the "Nantucket of the Caribbean" because of the New England style clapboard houses. The world-famous "Three Mile Beach", or "Pink Sand Beach" attracts a very cosmopolitan crowd, .....

Site of Many Model Shoots

Harbour Island is the site of many model shoots. See this this shoot from Sport Illustrated Swimsuit edition. The fantastic beach, clear water, and the general atmosphere lend to Harbour Island being such a good location for photographers. There is also the prevalance of great restaurants and hotels, such as Pink Sands. Bill Gates, Wayne Huizenga, hockey great Mark Messier, and model Elle McPherson all have homes on Harbour Island.

World Famous "Pink Sand Beach"

Sometimes called "Three Mile Beach" or "Pink Sand Beach", this gorgeous beach is world-famous. In fact, Forbes Magazine called it "...the most gorgeous beach in the world...". It is the main attraction of this small 3 mile long cay off North Eleuthera. Even though it is so well-known, it never even comes close to being crowded, because the beach is so long, and so wide. In addition, the entry to the water is pristine, and completely sandy, with no drop-offs. And the sand is hard-packed, making it great for jogging.

Great Shopping, Galleries

Another reason that may account for the popularity of model shoots in Harbour Island is the abundance of great shopping and the many galleries.
