Eleuthera: Best Beaches, Vacation Homes, Harbour Island

Eleuthera, a long, skinny island, is best known for its fabulous pink sand beaches. Some say, they are the best in the Bahamas. And there are many of them, from Pink Sand Beach in Harbour Island, to Lighthouse Point in the far south. There are many where one finds oneself all alone for long stretches of beach. Yet, there is a solid tourist infrastructure, with a variety of restaurants and activities, perhaps more than most Bahamian islands, aside from Abacos, Grand Bahama, and Nassau.

Harbour Island

Harbour Island, called the "Nantucket of the Bahamas", because of the New England type houses on the island, is a world-famous spot. Mostly because of it quaintness, its shopping, and fantastic Pink Sand Beach. It is a mecca for celebrities, including Bill Gates, Wayne Huizenga, Mic Jagger, Elle McPherson, and has an active nightlife, the best on the island. In addition, it is a popular place for fashion shoots. It is located on a cay, on the North part of the island, but is easily accessible by boat, and a nearby airport, North Eleuthera Airport (ELH)
