BIMINI FISHING

DEEP SEA FISHING

Among the rod-and-reel fraternity, Bimini is known as the “Deep-sea fishing capital of the world.” It is a reputation earned over decades of record catches pulled from the deep, nutrient-rich waters of the Gulf Stream, which flows within a quarter mile of the resort. Blue marlin average between 150 and 500 pounds (the record for these waters is 1,060 pounds). Tuna average between 250 and 500 pounds. Other bluewater species – like wahoo, sailfish, dolphin and the smaller white marlin – offer fine options for light-tackle action. Kingfish, tarpon, mackerel and barracuda also grow to record sizes. The fishing is excellent all year round.

The location of Bimini in the following map, shows its proximity to the biggest river in the world, the Gulf Stream; it is for this reason that there are record deep-sea catches......

BIMINI BONEFISHING

bonefishsam1a

As superb as the deep-sea fishing is off Bimini, the bonefishing is no less remarkable. It’s not due to the Gulf Stream this time, but Bimini’s other dramatic natural feature – hundreds of square miles of flats washed by Perrier-clear shallows. How good is the sport? Suffice to say, four out of the six I.G.F.A. (International Game Fish Association) World Bonefish Records (13-16 pounds) have been set in these waters.

Those in search of fly fishing’s ultimate challenge (the bonefish is considered the finest fighting fish pound for pound), can sign up for an hour’s instruction, a half-day, or full-day with boat, guide and gear. The season runs all year round.

Ebbie's Bonefish Club

This is a new bonefishing operation offering lodging and guiding.....the casual 5 room lodge is located in Bailey Town, just behind Tiger's Den, a popular hangout in Porgy Bay. Rooms have 2 beds, private bath, TV, minifrig, microwave and coffee pot. Bonefish Ebbie (Ebenezer David) is a highly recommended guide. Contact him at: 242-347-2053 at the lodge, cell is 242-359-8273.

Bonefish Sam

bonefishsam
The most famous of Bimini's bonefish guides, Sam finds the fish, does the casting and just before the strike and the electrifying first run hands the rod to the client. With Bonefish Sam along anybody can catch bonefish. A 10-year-old boy went out with him several years ago and, after one of Sam's perfect casts, landed a world record 15-pounder. Of 468 bonefish caught on Bimini so far this year, Sam's boat has brought in 226. For more info, go HERE.......
